Mind the gap: using Change Management techniques to navigate what's next
AI is changing the landscape of Technical Writing, and across our community many Writers are experiencing excitement and curiosity but also a lot of uncertainty, and concern about what this means for our roles. I would like to invite you to explore how Change Management principles - we will be using the ADKAR framework - can help us understand where we are, what we need, and how we move forward with intention. Rather than prescribing a single path or pushing endless upskilling, we will explore how to recognize our current mindset, identify gaps, and make intentional choices about what comes next. We will be taking an honest stock of our awareness, readiness, and confidence to approach AI-driven change with more clarity, direction, and control.
First and foremost, I am a content person - at heart. I believe that clear, targeted communication has the power to transform how people understand products, processes, and change. My journey started in 2018 with not more than passion for creating meaningful technical content. Today I lead a Technical Documentation team at Splunk, helping people grow professionally, do their best work, and take pride in what they create. Over the years, I have also become increasingly interested in the human side of transformation — how teams adapt, how people experience change, how it is implemented and how we can make complex transitions easier to navigate. I see communication as one of the most powerful tools we have for building understanding, confidence, and alignment.
